The King and Bear club house

The only collaboration between golf’s greatest legends, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, the King & Bear is set among pristine lakes, beautiful loblolly pines, and stately oak trees. Each hole contains design characteristics from both Palmer and Nicklaus to create a unique layout.

Measuring 7,279 yards from the back and 5,119 yards from the forward tees, the course can challenge the most avid golfers while providing player-friendly conditions for beginners. The front nine is an open, links-style layout that gives a nod to the heritage of the historic city of nearby St. Augustine. The back nine is more traditional Florida golf fringed with loblolly pines, 200-year-old oak trees, indigenous coquina rock, and numerous water features. So enamored was Arnold Palmer with the course he helped design, he selected the 15th hole as one of his “Dream 18,” in Sports Illustrated’s Preview to The Ryder Cup in 2006. The King & Bear was also named to Golf Digest’s list of the 2015 Top Public Courses in Florida. The layout was also selected to Golf Magazine’s 2016–2017 list of the Best Courses You Can Play in Florida.

Since its inception in 2000, the King & Bear has hosted the Legends of Golf, a PGA Tour Champions event, the Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf match between Palmer and Nicklaus; and Qualifying Schools for the PGA Tour and PGA Champions Tour. It’s a world class venue, literally right in your back yard.
